Where to ride:  Ponce Inlet is the place.  From Dunlawton Cswy , go south on A1A,
Continue to the 1st stop sign south of Dunlawton.   Turn Left on Beach Street,
drive down the ramp & pay the daily Beach Access fee.
Park on the right.  (beach driving area)   Rig and launch to the left, just north of the Posts.
(in the non-driving area)    Stay downwind and a safe distance from surfers.
Most of the Daytona surfers surf near the jetty at the southern most end of the beach.

Winds are most consistent in the late spring and summer months on S.E. seabreezes which normally kicks in during the hottest part of the day , around 2 pm, and is good until the thunderheads move in and kill it or just make it too risky to fly.

Daytona's riding spots are in the Atlanic, so expect waves.  Sometimes big, sometimes
small, but almost always some waves.
N, NE, E, SE, and S  all work along the east facing beaches.

For Flat water,  I recommend driving south to Titusville, or Cocoa Beach
45-60 minutes south.   See the Cocoa Page for more info.

You also have the option to drive north to Mantanzus inlet just south of St. Augustine.
Approx 45-60 min drive from Daytona.  The trick here is to catch the tide when its
opposing the wind direction.  Normally, one hour before or after the tide changes
is preferred.

If you need to pick up some gear, new harness, lines, etc.... Sandy Pont Progressive
Sports is a short drive away on Ridgewood.  Windsurfing, Kayaks, Blades,
surfboards, skateboards, snowboards, clothing, and even kites.  Stop in for sure and say hello, good prices and a friendly staff.. To get there...   take Dunlawton going west over the river, right on Ridgewood, go south a few miles to 3109. Shop in on the right near Ventura rd.
Or....    There is another Shop north of town in St. Augustine, approx 45-60 minute drive
Extreme Kites run by Kristen and Daryl Drown.  Two of the friendliest and knowledgeable
people you'll ever meet.  Daryl is a full on kiting expert.  when even I get asked a question
I can't answer, I call on Daryl.

Daytona, FL
Super wide beaches at low tide.
A very gradual sloping bottom with no nasty shore break.
Park and drive your car on the beach.

Local Kiters:
Ryan Toaspern, Chris, Clark,  Italian John, Smokin Steve, Tyler, and a handful of others
that make Daytona a great place to ride.
( did I leave you out?  Send me your name and photo and I'll be happy to add it)

Excellent aerial shot of Ponce Inlet with Daytona and New Smyrna Beaches
Northeast.
