How much is this all going to cost?

This Page:
Complete Kiteboarding Packages, what you need and what you can expect to pay.

$1500..  will get you the latest '08 Complete gear package
$1,100 to $1,200. with a low priced board. (Factory Blem, Used, Closeout, etc)
(For Details on specifics kites and boards see the "Kites" page, and the "Boards" page.)

*** Don't be fooled by slick marketing tactics on many website.
Many packages are put together by retailers trying to figure out a way to get rid
of 2 year old (or older), outdated board designs, tiny kites, or gear they have a difficult
time selling.

Other companies will try to rape your wallet by charging  $1,500 for
just "1" kite!  Insane!  Unfortunately, some uneducated shoppers believe the hype.

Be Careful.

Some packages include a "high aspect (AR) kite that is totally wrong for a beginner, intermediate,
and even for some advanced riders.  Cabrinha makes a nice kite,
but beginners should avoid the "Black-tip Nitro" model.  Other kites to avoid:
Naish X series, North Rhino, and other Very High AR Kites.

Ready to Kiteboard on the water?   You'll need the following:

Kite-"Board" Complete with:
  Straps (set of 2)
  Pads   (set of 2)
Fin      (Set of 4 or 6)

There are many excellent boards on the market.
  Complete boards average around $550.
Although you can find them as low as $399 and up to $800.

"Kite" Complete with Bar and lines: (Kites can also be purchased "kite only")
Bag ( this is included with all kites)
Pump ( included with all kites, types: small, large volume double action)
Repair Kit ( tiny patches used to fx pin holes in air bladders)
Control Bar ( carbon is preferred, aluminum is lower priced)
Fixed Harness Line ( this should be included on all bars but its not)
Line Set ( normally 4 lines 25m to 27m long)
  Kite Safety Leash

A 13m moderate AR Kite is a popular size.  Your weight, and local wind conditions
determine the needed size.  Most people end up with 3 kites to cover the 10-25 mph
wind range.  (Example: "9m, 13m, & 17m"   or  a "7m, 11m, and 15m")
I personally currently ride with 9m and 13m, and occassionally a 7m

(See the kites page, and the "best kites" page for more details)

Harness ( waist or seat design)
  Spreader Bar
(Must be Stainless Steel, not aluminum)
Bar Pad  (optional nice to have if you use a waist harness and kite without a wetsuit)

Harnesses:

Dakine Tabu  Waist Harness w/ Stainless Steel Spreader Bar, and  bar pad  $129.
Dakine Fusion Seat Harness: complete $155.

Add it all up you'll be around $1500.
Order a complete package: Kite, Board, Bar, lines, harness, and get a free harness
as your Team Kitemare Bonus. For a New total of Under $1400.

If you need to cut the total even more, look for a used board, and you'll be able to cut
your total down to $1,100 - $1,200
